Lean Capital LLC was founded in 2023 to strategically purchase and hold multi-family rental real estate. Our creative and hard-working team applies lean manufacturing principles to the world of real estate investments.
The three of us met at (and now run) the Vermont Real Estate Meetup.
We might be a little biased, but we highly recommend checking out the meetups! Whether you’re an investor, property manager, contractor, attorney, or something else entirely, VTREM is a hotspot for local connection and opportunities. The idea is simple: if we work together, we’ll all have access to growth and opportunity wherever we need it most.

A Bit About Us
We are a real estate startup that rebrands the experience for renters/guests, team members, and the local community. Maximizing the benefit to our customers through minimizing our business waste. With a systematized approach, and a lean manufacturing mindset, we can significantly lower costs and provide increased value to all participating parties.
This holistic approach provides a business model that will eventually be implemented in other markets to further Lean Capital’s portfolio diversity. Vertical integration will be a key component to our system as the team and portfolio grows.

About The Team
Mady Marquardt
Co-Founder, Operations
Mady Marquardt started her career in real estate shortly before graduating from college, starting in commercial property management at 19. She has experience in private sale real estate transactions, property management, and asset management, starting her own real estate investment portfolio shortly before becoming a founding partner of Lean Capital.
She chose the property management path out of college as a starting point to understanding more about the real estate industry and fell in love with the process behind managing and seeing improvement within properties. With the goal of building a presence with Lean Capital, she’s spent the past two years building several streams of real estate income and has recently left her property management career to pursue investing full-time.
When she’s not absorbed in real estate, you’ll find her at the gym, reading a book, or spending time with family.
MEGAN TALBOT
CO-FOUNDER, ACQUISITIONS
Megan Talbot moved to Vermont in 2016, and she’s been investing in Vermont’s real estate market for four years. After obtaining her Master’s in Education and being immersed in the field for 20 years, she’s ready to start making a difference in Vermont’s communities in a new way. Pulling from her years of experience in education, she focuses her efforts on creative strategies to acquire business and manage teams of people.
Megan’s real estate investments have offered her the opportunity to combine her passion for social justice and knack for problem-solving to aid in the growth of Vermont’s housing stock. Megan has partnered with Mady and Mike to grow a robust portfolio through creative acquisition strategies while achieving goals related to her community-led mission.
Megan is a mother of two active boys and an outdoor enthusiast. She enjoys skiing, hiking, mountain biking, exploring the outdoors and visiting all the gems Vermont has to offer with them.

MIKE COHEN
CO-FOUNDER, INVESTOR RELATIONS and ANALYSIS
Mike Cohen has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and spent the majority of his career in manufacturing plants. During his tenure, he most enjoyed identifying inefficiencies within production and working with teams to solve dynamic problems. Mike brings his engineering mindset and construction background to Lean Capital.
It all started with his first glimpse into real estate when he purchased a duplex in Pennsylvania in 2012. He now owns several multi-family properties across Vermont and is excited to begin building systematic efficiencies through the growth of Lean Capital. Mike recently left his engineering career to pursue real estate investing full-time.
In his time away from real estate Mike enjoys spending time with his family, getting outdoors, and playing music.
